I sometimes carve bamboo or wood to make my own pens.
To catch the moment when ink flows from the wood and lands on paper as a line requires a certain momentum.
This time, I used a bamboo pen.
A bamboo pen cannot produce a perfectly even line.
The amount of ink and the condition of the tip change from moment to moment.
That uncontrollable fluctuation
gives breath to the figure drawing.
Above all, I value that single, fleeting line.
